Become a Volunteer
All of the activities the Foundation undertakes are achieved through the efforts of volunteers. Volunteer to help with preservation efforts, educational activities, the ERF Gift Shop, fundraising events, or with Foundation administration. Make a difference by volunteering at the Empire Ranch.
We especially need help on our Volunteer Work Days at the ranch held on the first Saturday of most months, generally between the hours of 8am and 12 noon. To learn of scheduled Volunteer Days, click here to see our Event Calendar.
Gift Shop volunteers work five hour shifts on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays.

Become a Docent
Would you like to learn more about the history of the Empire Ranch and share your interest of this historic place with visitors? Consider becoming a docent! Docents attend a six-hour training class at Empire Ranch Headquarters that provides a broad overview of Empire Ranch history, and ranching and western heritage. They are further prepared through a follow-up tour practice session. Docents are asked to give a minimum of four tours annually and may also be asked to assist by giving tours at our smaller outreach events such as National Day of the Cowboy.
